Mindy Shwom is the Office Manager for Dr. Shwom, in charge of operating all business aspects. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and Finance from Boston University Magna Cum Laude in 1978. In 1986, after working at Filene’s, Data Terminal System, and Wang, Mindy utilized her skills to help Dr. Shwom, which continues today. With her extensive retail and fashion marketing experience and her skills in computer software programming, she began selling frames and wrote Dr. Shwom’s first patient information computer program. Her start with eyewear actually began with Berman and Rossi Opticians in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
Mindy is an ABO licensed optician and NCLC National Contact Lens Specialist. She is also a Fellow in the National Academy of Opticianry and Contact Lens Society. She has enjoyed working alongside her husband in an eye care family business and has years of fashion and eyewear expertise. She speaks Spanish, as does her son Jeff. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her three boys (an older son and a pair of twins!), walking and swimming, and reading.
